Acrobats set for high-wire circus festival

The 19th China Wuqiao International Circus Festival will open on Oct 20 in Shijiazhuang, Hebei province.

The festival has attracted acrobatic groups and artists from around the world and the organizing committee has selected 30 outstanding performances among more than 460 submissions from over 50 countries and regions.

These selected performances are not only artistically excellent but also highly entertaining, showcasing the highest level and the latest achievements in the world of acrobatics, according to the organizing committee.

The closing ceremony will be held in Wuqiao county, Cangzhou city of Hebei，on Oct30.

The festival was founded in 1987 and is jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Hebei provincial government.

It has been held 18 sessions.

“After 36 years of development, the Wuqiao International Circus Festival has become an important platform for exchanges and cooperation between the domestic and international acrobatic communities. It is also a bright business card for China’s cultural exchange with the outside world,” said Shi Zeyi, a senior official from the international exchange and cooperation division with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
