A paid parental leave policy for families with children under 3 years old has been in place since Friday in Zhengzhou, Henan province, optimizing its policy for long-term population development.
Under the policy, female employees are entitled to have breastfeeding time of no less than two hours a day within the baby's first year.
Each spouse is granted a paid parental leave of 10 days per year until the child reached the age of 3, while salaries and bonuses are not affected. This means both parents are entitled to a maximum of 20 days of leave per year.
For families with multiple children, parental leave cannot be cumulative.
The parental leave is said to be suitable for taking care of a sick baby, taking a baby break or interacting with kids.
