Beijing police have detained 168 people suspected of illegally providing travel services for visitors, the Municipal Public Security Bureau said on Thursday.
The suspects, including four from a travel agency that used study tours to defraud visitors, were detained in a crackdown on illegal travel service providers, the bureau said in a statement.
The others were members of two groups offering one-day trip services in the capital.
The bureau urged residents to choose and sign contracts with qualified travel agencies to prevent being cheated.
The bureau also welcomed people to dial a hotline — 12345 — as well as 110 to report clues.
