Hurricane Idalia pummels southeastern US, leaving 400,000 without power

Hurricane Idalia landed in northwest Florida on Wednesday, with maximum sustained winds of 125 mph. The destructive winds and heavy rain flooded streets, left hundreds of thousands of people without power, and thousands of flights were canceled or delayed. The storm was moving toward Georgia and South Carolina on Wednesday afternoon.
