Tianjin Mayor Zhang Gong, speaking at the inaugural Cyber Security Summit (Tianjin) on Monday, said the city is open to collaborating with research institutes and companies to limit digital hacking worldwide.

"The city has achieved significant progress in attracting industrial resources, fostering industrial chains and establishing collaboration platforms" aimed at strengthening cybersecurity, he said.

During the event, the National Computer Virus Emergency Response Center, which is based in Tianjin, entered into partnership agreements with leading universities and enterprises to advance research and development, promote digital information sharing and facilitate personnel training.

Concurrently, three parallel forums were held, along with the fourth International Anti-Virus Conference.

Zhou Hongyi, founder of 360 Group, a Tianjin-based cybersecurity protection company, revealed plans to establish a digital security service center in the city.

Noting that his company had invested 25 billion yuan ($3.49 billion) in the past two decades to bolster cybersecurity research, Zhou said it had also identified 51 overseas organizations responsible for cyberattacks against China, further underscoring how cybersecurity risks are escalating.

Eugene Kaspersky, the founder of the cybersecurity company that bears his name, noted that criminal groups have become increasingly adept at precise attacks, with a particular focus on infrastructure and industrial facilities.
