President's bilateral meetings underscore deep collaboration
Tanzania
When meeting with Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, President Xi Jinping hailed China-Tanzania cooperation as being at the forefront in China-Africa cooperation, and said the Tanzania-Zambia railway built with Chinese assistance will always be a good memory for the two peoples.
Calling Hassan's visit to China in November a highlight of the China-Tanzania relationship, Xi said active efforts are being made to secure the effective implementation of the consensuses they had reached during that visit.
Noting that next year will mark the 60th anniversary of the diplomatic relationship between the two countries, Xi said China is ready to take the anniversary as an opportunity to deepen strategic cooperation.
China will continue to work with Tanzania to firmly support each other's core interests and major concerns, he said.
Xi also said that strengthening China-Africa cooperation under the current international situation will help safeguard the solidarity and legitimate development interests of developing countries.
Hassan said she was glad that the two countries had elevated their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership during her visit to China last year.
The Tanzanian president said her country highly praised China's precious support and assistance for developing countries, and these countries, including Tanzania, have benefited greatly from the Belt and Road Initiative and other major initiatives.
