The watchdog that monitors workplace safety in Fuxin city, in Northeast China's Liaoning province, said on Wednesday local coal-mining company Honglin attempted to cover up a deadly accident last month.
The June 27 incident resulted in seven deaths and seven injuries. The injured were treated in hospital and were said to be in stable condition.
The accident was allegedly hushed up until Tuesday, after which the local government set up an investigation team, whose members include representatives from coal industry management, emergency services, public security, and the Haizhou district government.
