Shandong braces for downpours, flooding

As it enters the main flood season, Shandong province issued a notice on Monday listing emergency measures involving job suspensions, schools and transportation to ensure safety if necessary.
Heavy rain was expected in most parts of Shandong on Monday and Tuesday.
The notice, which was issued by the Shandong Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters, said rain in the province has the potential to cause flooding in small and medium-sized rivers, as well as geological disasters and waterlogging in urban and rural areas.
In response to the potential risks, the headquarters emphasized the importance of closely monitoring weather changes and strengthening the monitoring and forecasting of rainfall conditions.
It also called for enhanced collaboration and scientific analysis for the development of flood and disaster situations.
