Shanghai Magnolia Stage Performance Award nominees revealed

The organizers of the 31st Shanghai Magnolia Stage Performance Award unveiled the list of nominees for this year's Best Lead Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Best New Actor awards on Monday.

Set up in 1989, the award is an annual celebration of live theater art that honors the best stage productions and actors.

Sixty-eight productions from various categories such as Chinese traditional operas, Western operas, dramas, musicals, dance and acrobatics operas are up for awards at this year's event.

Veteran actress Chen Qi, 94, will be conferred the Special Contribution Award.

The award ceremony will be held at Shanghai Culture Plaza on April 21.
