A promotional conference for the sixth China International Import Expo was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on March 30 local time.

The event was attended by more than 200 trade and investment promotion organizations and commercial and industrial associations, as well as over 300 representatives from Chinese and Argentine media outlets and think tanks.

Zou Xiaoli, Chinese ambassador to Argentina, said that the event, which was the first of its kind that the sixth CIIE has held in the Americas, demonstrated the good relations between China and Argentina. He said that the bilateral trade between the two countries increased 20.1 percent year-on-year to $21.37 billion in 2022.

Liu Fuxue, deputy director-general of the CIIE Bureau, said during the event that Argentina is an old friend of the CIIE and its government, organizations and enterprises have brought Argentine culture and many high-quality products to China over the years. He added that more Argentine companies are welcome to participate in the CIIE to seize business opportunities in the Chinese market.

Argentina has proactively gathered many enterprises to participate in the expo since its first edition in 2018, said Cecilia Todesca Bocco, secretary for International Economic Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship of Argentina.

Jorge Grimberg, president of the Institute for the Promotion of Beef and Veal, which has participated in all editions of the expo, said that they will bring more enterprises to participate in this year's expo and introduce quality Argentine beef to Chinese consumers.

According to Grimberg, China is the main export market for Argentine meat products, accounting for 70 percent of the country's total beef exports.

During the event, several Argentine organizations and enterprises, including IPCVA, signed up for this year's expo.
