New commander appointed for PLA garrison in Macao SAR

MACAO -- Yu Changjiang, commander of the Sansha military garrison in Hainan Province, has been appointed as commander of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Garrison in the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), the PLA garrison in Macao said on Thursday.
Xi Jinping, chairman of the Central Military Commission, signed an order recently for the appointment, said Wang Hui, spokesperson of the PLA garrison in Macao.
Yu vowed to fully implement the "one country, two systems" principle, perform defense duties in accordance with the Basic Law of the Macao SAR and the law on stationing troops in Macao, and resolutely safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests as well as the prosperity and stability of Macao.
