As of last year, China's transportation network has grown to cover more than 6 million kilometers, the minister of transport said recently.

From 2018 to 2022, China's transportation sector saw investments of 17 trillion yuan ($2.44 trillion) in fixed assets, Minister Li Xiaopeng said at a news conference on Thursday.

China's railway network covers 155,000 km, of which 42,000 km are high-speed railways, accounting for more than two-thirds of the world's high-speed railways.

In addition, the country has developed the world's largest road network, covering 5.35 million km, of which 177,000 km are freeways.

China also has 128,000 km of inland waterways and 21,000 berths that can accommodate industrial production.

The country has 254 civil aviation airports for commercial flights.

Fifty-three cities have city metro transportation systems, with their operations covering a total of 9,584 km.

Nearly all administrative villages, towns and counties have access to hardened roads and bus services.

Post offices are established in all towns, and postal services are offered in every village.
