Suzhou Youth Orchestra debuts with full vitality

Suzhou Youth Symphony Orchestra made its debut by performing with Suzhou Symphony Orchestra at Suzhou Culture and Arts Centre on Feb 5.

Music pieces, such as Youth Waltz and Bolero, were performed by the Suzhou Youth Symphony Orchestra.

The concert also brought famous music works, including Spring Festival Overture and Tchaikovsky's Overture 1812, Op.49.

According to Chen Guangxian, head of Suzhou Symphony Orchestra, it was the first concert of 2023 that the two orchestras had performed in, which was to celebrate the occasion of the Spring Festival.

Suzhou Youth Symphony Orchestra, featuring over 100 members aging from 10 to 18 years old, rehearsed for the concert for three months. First launched in July 2022, it aims at training the next generation musicians as well as popularizing classical music among young people.

Suzhou Youth Symphony Orchestra also has a name, Qing Tuan Zi, which is named after the traditional food qingtuan, or sweet green rice ball, of Suzhou.
