The strengths of traditional Chinese medicine in treating COVID-19 should be further highlighted, according to a circular released by the State Council’s Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism on Wednesday.
According to the document, TCM drugs can be delivered to patients at risk of developing severe symptoms as part of early intervention measures to inhibit development of the virus.
When treating serious patients, it is necessary to integrate TCM and Western medicine, it added.
Provincial-level drug regulators should facilitate the distribution of TCM medications to medical institutions to meet the needs of patients, the circular added.
