History and People's Choice, an original Chinese play co-produced by the Central Academy of Drama, will be staged at the Tianqiao Performing Arts Center in Beijing from Nov 18 to 20.

Set against the backdrop of the 1930s and 1940s, the play portrays the history of the Communist Party of China, which led a revolution to save the nation from foreign aggression.

Directed by Wang Ban and written by scriptwriter Meng Bing, the play is based on real historical events. It also displays photos and videos from key historic sites, such as the Chongqing office of the Eighth Route Army and the caves of Yan'an, Shaanxi province — the former residences of Chairman Mao Zedong.
