Shanghai reported one new locally confirmed COVID-19 case on Sunday, the city's Health Commission said at a news briefing.
The infection was discovered in a 21-year-old male during normal nucleic acid testing. He was diagnosed with light symptoms, and is being treated at a local designated COVID-19 hospital.
By 4 pm Sunday, 357 close contacts and 770 secondary contacts of the case had been identified and quarantined, with all testing negative so far.
The residence of the newly reported case, located in Hangtou county in East Shanghai's Pudong New Area, was classified as a medium-risk area, said Wu Qianyu, an official from the Shanghai Health Commission.
