In the recently concluded microphotography competition at Tianjin University, students used the microscope as the viewfinder for various micro-nano materials. They recorded the complexity and beauty of the materials in the microscopic world invisible to the naked eye.

The competition was sponsored by university's School of Materials Science and Engineering and undertaken by the center of national experimental teaching of material science and engineering.

The competition received a total of 161 works from 118 students from the schools of materials science and engineering materials, chemical engineering and technology, science and civil engineering.

Through electron microscopes, confocal microscopes, atomic force microscopes and metallographic microscopes, the students took original pictures at multiple magnifications.

Maintaining the original condition of the pictures, they increased the artistry of the works with technology, making it more aesthetic and visual. The beauty of science was revealed.
