Five senior experts from BRICS countries have said the bloc should promote shared development and make bigger contributions for developing countries.

Paulo Nogueira Batista Jr., former executive director at the IMF and former vice-president of the New Development Bank, said the BRICS was not designed to work against any country or group. Instead, the BRICS was established for the shared development of the global South.

Deputy director-general of the Bureau of International Cooperation of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Liao Fan, stressed that strengthening coordination with developing countries beyond the BRICS through the "BRICS Plus" mechanism could "make sure their voices are heard by international organizations", and "ensure that developing nations have a greater say in international affairs, and the right to set the agenda and formulate rules".

Busani Ngcaweni, principal of the National School of Government, South Africa, said Euro-American countries have shaped the current world order and the BRICS should play a greater role in improving the international order for the sake of the global South.

Experts from India and Russia also spoke at a recent online BRICS-themed forum sponsored by the Bureau of International Cooperation and the Latin American Institute at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
