The Shanghai Party and government leadership on Monday urged local officials to step up efforts for on-site epidemological investigation to determine close contacts and locate more precisely the origin of virus to stop community transmission.

Zhao Dandan, deputy director of the health commission, said the city requires that officials must base their decisions on science and the circumstances of each scenario instead of resorting to a one-size-fits-all approach.

Zhao also noted that community clinics have been gradually resuming operation. Around 70 percent of the 251 community clinics are now open five days a week, he said. In addition, more than 2,600 retail pharmacies in the city have also reopened.

The city reported 322 local confirmed COVID-19 cases and 3,625 asymptomatic cases on Sunday.
