The stories of Artemis and Orion, two figures in Greek mythology, have multiple versions, each one quite different.

In Li Zi's work The Kiss of Artemis, an installation using magnetic levitation technology, she depicts the Greek goddess in a deep embrace with her huntsman. The artist makes particular use of International Klein Blue, the deep blue hue mixed by the French artist Yves Klein, transmitting an intense feeling of myth and tragedy.

The Kiss of Artemis is at the heart of Li's ongoing exhibition at the Yansha Youyi Shopping Center in Beijing, exploring her interest in ancient Greece which inspired her creations. The show, running through March 31, also features sculptures portraying philosophers of ancient Greece, including Plato, Aristotle and Diogenes the Cynic, as well as an interactive installation, The Hanging Gardens of Babylon. In these works, Li Zi blends the ancient civilizations of human society with modern technology.
