WASHINGTON - President Joe Biden remains committed to his campaign promise that he'd nominate a Black woman for an empty Supreme Court seat, the White House said Wednesday after reports that Justice Stephen Breyer will retire from the top court.

Press Secretary Jen Psaki would not confirm Breyer's reported plans or discuss Biden's preparations to fill the seat. However, she said that he "certainly stands by" his earlier "commitment to nominating a Black woman to the Supreme Court."
