Migu in digital deal to create ice and snow metaverse

Migu Co Ltd, a subsidiary of China Mobile that provides digital content and related services, has inked a strategic deal with Beijing Radio & Television Station to jointly leverage the power of technology and culture to attract more people to winter sports.
Under the partnership, the two sides will deepen integration of radio, television and telecommunications. They will cooperate in areas like ice and snow events, 5G applications and diverse content. This is expected to create a 5G-powered ice and snow metaverse.
The metaverse refers to a shared virtual environment in which technologies like virtual reality and augmented reality are combined to create a virtual presence – in other words, the Web, which has so far tended to be flat in its largely 2D format, will acquire additional dimensions or layers that will make it richer and more immersive.
Based on Migu's self-developed technology, China Mobile has developed a 5G-powered smart virtual character called Meet Gu, modeled after Chinese star freeskier Gu Ailing.
