Performed by Gansu Provincial Song and Dance Theater, the story is set in the Tang Dynasty (618-907). It highlights the glorious ancient Silk Road and Dunhuang frescoes. Drawing inspiration from folk songs and dances around China, the dance depicts the lives of an old painter and his daughter Ying Niang, as well as their friendship with Persian merchant Hyginus.
