Hong Kong - Books showing the history of the Communist Party of China, and the opportunities provided by the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area have grabbed the spotlight at this year's Hong Kong Book Fair, which opened on Wednesday.

The largest book fair in Asia, organized by Hong Kong Trade Development Council, has been delayed by nearly a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On the opening day of the 7-day event, several major Hong Kong publishing houses were seen putting the latest publications on Chinese history at the forefront of their exhibits. They include a new book that chronicles 100 major events over the 100 years since the founding of the Communist Party of China in 1921 through precious first-hand historical documents.

A series of timely stories detailing the success of China's poverty alleviation and fight against the pandemic over the past year were also heavily promoted as showpieces.
