Major Chongqing tourism project to include longest single-span cableway

The recently released construction plan of a cultural tourism project, including the world's longest single-span cableway in Southwest China's Chongqing, with a record-breaking length of 3,100 meters and an altitude of 1,170 meters, could overlook the Wujiang River, a Yangtze tributary, from about 1,000 meter high. Recently, a construction plan for a cultural tourism project in Southwest China's Chongqing was released, which includes what will be the world's longest single-span cableway and has attracted lots of attention.

The planned cableway, with a record-breaking length of 3,100 meters and an altitude of 1,170 meters, would overlook the Wujiang River, a Yangtze tributary, from about 1,000 meters high.

The cableway construction, included in a 246.7 hectares planning project of the Baima Mountain Love Bridge in Baima Mountain Scenic Spot in Chongqing's Wulong district, was released at the 2021 China Wuling Cultural Tourism Summit 2021 held in Wulong on Thursday.

According to Qian Yan, a staff member of the Baima Mountain Scenic Spot Management Committee, , a cliff Ferris wheel with a diameter of 150 meters and a cliff roller coaster with a length of 2,000 meters that take advantage of the local terrain also are included in the project.

Moreover, the scenic spot will create a circular holographic glass trestle bridge with an arc length of 420 meters, which is said to be the first of its kind in the country.

The total investment of the project will reach 15 billion yuan ($2.4 billion) and is expected to receive more than 10 million tourists annually after it is completed.

The project is open to the public for investment.
