Petroleum engineering contest sees over 2,300 teams participate
The 11th China Petroleum Engineering Design Competition, held by the China University of Petroleum of Beijing, wrapped up on May 23 with the participation of more than 2,300 teams from 48 universities and institutes from home and abroad.
The two-month event not only honed participants' skills in conducting innovative teamwork to cope with engineering complexities through intensive competitions, but also looked back on the history of how the petroleum industry evolved in China and how young people devoted themselves to exploring more possibilities for the industry via an exhibition.
Han Shangfeng, vice-president of the CUP, said the competition will help to cultivate more talent in petroleum engineering through a synthesis of competition, research and study.
He holds that the development of the competition has also been elevated to a new stage considering its increasing number of participants and improved quality of the entries.
"It will help the university to set up a first-class discipline system," he adds.
