With the rapid development of contemporary art in Asia, both the Chinese and international markets are pressed for talents in curation, art criticism and business management.

The Sino-Korean International Higher Education Cooperation Project introduced the professional master's and doctoral education in International Curation and Criticism and Art Business Management and Fine Arts and Visual Practice at South Korea's Sahmyook University during a press conference on Monday at the 798 Contemporary Art Research Center in Beijing.

Hosted by Chunchen Wang, deputy director of the Chinese Academy of Fine Arts Art Museum, the press conference included invited guests, including Jinwei He, founder of Beijing Asia Scene Art Space; Yuan Ding, a CAFA professor; Ling Tang, vice-president of the Academy of Literature and Art of the Chinese National Academy of Arts, and Hao Guo, dean and associate professor of the School of Fine Arts at Anyang Normal University.

Sahmyook University of South Korea this year established the International Curation and Criticism and Art Business Management,Fine Arts and Visual Practice master's and doctorate degree education tracks.

In response to the emerging demand for degree education in Asia, the faculty hired Chinese professors and scholars, and their courses will be taught in Chinese. At the same time, master's and doctoral students will write their dissertations in Chinese. It is hoped that through this way, the language barrier of overseas study can be solved and the demand of Chinese students can be met.

Thanks to its rapid economic development, China has become the world's second-largest economy. The influence and status of the Chinese language has grown globally, so holding an "all-Chinese" higher art education program will be an innovation of international education.

Sahmyook University, founded in 1906, is a century-old university in South Korea in Seoul. The proportion of international students at the university is now 30 percent. Recognized by the Ministry of Education of China, the university offers academic degrees accredited by the Ministry.

Ying Yi, a renowned Chinese art historian, art theorist, art critic, expert with special allowance of the State Council, professor and doctoral supervisor of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, was specially invited to serve as the director and doctoral supervisor of the Contemporary Art Theory Research Center of Sahmyook University.

To build a strong teaching team, Ying Yi, Chunchen Wang, Li Zhao and Jinwei He will join hands with a number of doctoral tutors, curators, art management experts and professors to give lectures.

The duration of the postgraduate and doctoral program is four years and the doctoral program three years. Chinese is the main communication language, and students can take Korean courses.

In the autumn of 2021, it plans to enroll 20 people in the master's and doctoral programs and 40 in the doctoral program.
