UNDP: China played key role in ending global poverty
China made a major contribution to ending poverty globally by lifting over 750 million people out of poverty in the past four decades, said Beate Trankmann, UN Development Programme resident representative in China.
Trankmann also pointed out that there is still a long way to end poverty. It is important to prevent people slip back into poverty, improve welfare systems, fight against relative poverty and realize sustainable development.
