China's Chongqing finds coronavirus on imported beef packaging

CHONGQING -- Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality on Tuesday detected the novel coronavirus on the packaging of imported frozen beef.

The COVID-19 prevention and control office in the city's Gaoxin District said that a sample of packaging from frozen beef imported from Argentina tested positive for coronavirus in a regular screening.

Most of the 342 beef products in the batch remained in the warehouse, but 66 were sold to unspecified districts and counties in the city, the office said.

The office said an emergency response has been launched to track the goods, test personnel at risk of exposure, clean and disinfect the environment.
