Another 10-15 homestays will be developed soon, according to the village authority.

Shu Fayin returned to open a grocery store after seeing the boom in tourism at home.

Shu and her husband used to work in East China's Zhejiang province.

"We serve locals and tourists, and the business is good enough for my family," Shu says.

In 2019, Bamou was officially named as a national rural tourism village by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and has found favor among tourists from neighboring areas.

Lin is optimistic about the future, noting that rural tourism offers things to eat and look at, and flowers and fruits to pick, all year around.

Shi Ruipeng contributed to the story.
