China expels ex-general manager of State-owned power company from CPC

BEIJING - Yun Gongmin, former general manager of China Huadian Corporation Ltd., has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) over serious violations of Party discipline and laws, top anti-graft body announced Wednesday.

The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission said in a statement that Yun has lost his ideals and convictions and was disloyal and dishonest to the Party.

An investigation found that Yun took advantage of his positions and sought benefits for others and his relatives in the selection and appointment of officials, business operations and project contracts, among others. Yun was found to have acquired a huge amount of property and wealth in return, according to the statement.

Yun also breached relevant rules by engaging in businesses, accepting gifts and money, seeking profits from state-owned resources, and helping relatives to run businesses, the investigation found.

The former general manager severely violated the Party's disciplinary standards of organization, clean governance and work, and is suspected of taking bribes, said the statement, adding that he showed no signs of restraint even after the 18th CPC National Congress.

Yun's illicit gains are to be confiscated, and his suspected crimes will be transferred to the procuratorate for further investigation and prosecution, said the statement.
