Hunan village a model for poverty alleviation

An online conference on ASEAN media views of China's poverty alleviation was held on Monday, where media professionals and experts from China and ASEAN countries explored China's poverty alleviation program and discussed future cooperation.
Shibadong village is situated in the impoverished mountainous areas of Wulingshan Mountains in Central China's Hunan province. The village's name refers to 18 local limestone caves.
Six groups consisting of 225 households and 939 villagers live here. In the past, 56.7 percent of people here were living in poverty.
However, in February 2017, Shibadong was officially lifted out of poverty after it created a feasible model of targeted poverty alleviation, even being recognized by the UN as a demonstration project.
