Birmingham stabbings kill one, injure seven: Police

LONDON -- UK police have launched a murder investigation after stabbings in Birmingham killed one and injured seven during the early hours of Sunday morning.

West Midlands Police confirmed that the incidents taking place between 12:30 am and 2:20 am are linked and that the police are doing all they can to find whoever was responsible.

A man has died, and another man and a woman suffered serious injuries. Five others were also injured, according to the police.

The police said detectives are following a number of lines of inquiry and have increased uniformed and armed response in the city.

The police have declared the stabbings a major incident.
