The productions competing in the Virtual Reality (VR) section of the 77th Venice International Film Festival on Monday became accessible to audience in Hangzhou, capital of east China's Zhejiang province.

A total of 44 visual projects from 24 countries and regions will be shown for 11 days. Information on creating VR projects will also be exchanged.

The Hangzhou-based China Academy of Art and the Sandbox Immersive Festival (SIF), an event in China dedicated to immersive and interactive storytelling in all media formats, are authorized to show the productions.

SIF founder Eddie Lou said it is expected that the audience, especially students majoring in related subjects, will get ideas about advanced VR technology.

"I hope every student can have their insights out in an imaginative world, and VR is the best way of realizing it," said Gao Shiming, president of the academy.
