Death toll rises to 6 in South China house fire

NANNING -- The death toll has risen to six after a fire broke out at a self-built house in the city of Baise, South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, the local fire department said Thursday.
The fire broke out at around 5:30 am Wednesday in Youjiang district and was put out about 20 minutes later.
Local authorities in Baise have announced that the city's self-built houses, roadside stores and multi-purpose venues will be checked for potential fire hazards.
