Mayor in Ecuador thanks Guangzhzou

Jorge Yunda Machado, mayor of Quito, the capital of Ecuador, thanked Wen Guohui, mayor of Guangzhou, Guangdong province, and expressed hope that cooperation between the two cities in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic would be expanded in the months to come.
Machado said he hoped to visit Guangzhou and meet Wen after the pandemic to express his heartfelt thanks in person.
Machado made his remarks in a video after medical materials donated by Guangzhou were received in Quito earlier this week.
"Quito is being hit hard by the pandemic and Guangzhou, our goodwill city, has provided timely help," he said. "The materials are valuable in supporting Quito in the fight against COVID-19."

Chen Guoyou, China's ambassador to Ecuador, said the two countries have helped each other fight the pandemic hand in hand, demonstrating a vivid interpretation of the concept of a community of shared destiny for mankind.
"It is the third time China has donated medical products to Quito," said Chen, who attended a handover ceremony.
"The Chinese embassy in Ecuador will continue to support China's provinces and cities in expanding cooperation with Ecuador to fight the pandemic, as well as to strengthen our friendship to enrich the Sino-Ecuador comprehensive strategic partnership."
