Public hospitals launch campaign to strengthen financial management

BEIJING -- China has launched a campaign among the country's public hospitals to see that they strengthen their financial management and overhaul relevant problems, in a bid to better serve the patients.
The year-long campaign, to run from this month till June next year, asks the public hospitals and community-level clinics to thoroughly comb out loopholes regarding their institutions' financial management and irregularities in their financial operations and properly address them, according to a statement published at the website of the National Health Commission.
The hospitals' medicine and service pricing and charging as well as financial management will be the major focuses in the campaign, the statement said, adding that problems such as overcharges and unnecessary treatments should be fixed in a timely manner.
Management regarding the hospitals' purchases and sales of medicines and medical materials should be strengthened, the statement said.
It also stressed efforts in keeping up-to-standard medical records and promoting transparency of the prices for relevant products and services.
