1 dead, 3 missing as heavy rainfall batters Sichuan

CHENGDU -- One person was killed and three others remain missing as heavy rainfall batters Southwest China's Sichuan province, local authorities said Wednesday.
The rain from Tuesday to Wednesday with the largest precipitation exceeding 323 mm is deemed as the heaviest in the province since the flooding season began this year, according to the provincial flood control and drought relief headquarters.
The heavy rain has lashed large parts of Sichuan, cutting off roads and damaging houses and crops.
Rescue and relief efforts are underway.
