National Games reveal volunteer recruitment details

The organizing committee of the 2021 National Games has announced it will begin its volunteer recruitment process on Sept 1 this year.

China's 14th National Games are slated to take place in various cities in Shaanxi province in August and September next year. The dates have not been confirmed yet due to the postponement of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics by a year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Organizers of the 14th National Games say 15,000 volunteers will be needed for the able-bodied event, with another 10,000 required for the National Disabled Games and China's Paralympics. Most of the volunteers of the National Disabled Games and Paralympics will be selected from the same pool as the 14th National Games.

Besides the Games-time volunteers, 80,000 city volunteers and 200,000 social volunteers will be needed.

The Games-time volunteers will be divided into three groups－general volunteers, the competition service volunteers, and the volunteers who will work in the media center and the organizing committee.

The first two types of Games-time volunteers will encompass 22 roles, including athlete/referee guides, competition operator assistants, venue operators for the opening and closing ceremonies, competitions and other events at the Games.

The city volunteers will work at airports, railway stations, main streets, places of interests and major shopping centers, while the social volunteers will help the government with voluntary work in Shaanxi's various host cities.

The Games' organizing committee says the recruitment process will be completed by May 31, 2021.
