Multiple fires scorch Yunnan province
Four fires burning in mountainous areas on Sunday in Yunnan province were put out by Monday, according to a report by news portal Chuncheng Evening News.
The blazes, which occurred in the townships of Caohai and Jiuhe in Yunnan's Heqing and Yulong counties were just the two of four. Fires continue to rage in Dali's Nanjian county and Lucheng, Chuxiong.
Thousands of firefighters and residents rushed to fight the fires in all four places. A helicopter was used in some areas.
No deaths or injuries were reported. The causes of the fires are under investigation.
Warmer temperatures and windy, dry conditions increase the fire risk in Yunnan in springtime. The province issued several weather warnings related to wind, heat and fire risk on Monday.
A famous local scenic spot, the Cangshan Mountain, near Dali was closed since Sunday, and the reopen time is still unknown.
