Wenchang family shares idyllic glimpse of life in lockdown

On Thursday, the Sinskie family living in Wenchang shared what goes on in their daily lives during the emergency period.
John Sinskie, an English teacher at Hainan College of Foreign Studies in Wenchang, teaches Business English and trains students for national competitions. His wife Sarah Sinskie used to be an English teacher, and now helps John with school projects. They have three children, and this year marks the fourth year the family is living in Hainan.
They said during this period they have more time to do what they want to do. Because of their children, staying at home stays quite entertaining.
During the emergency period, John said he studies Chinese online, and reads books on a daily basis. "I listen to Chinese for 30 minutes every day, and I have learned 80 new Chinese characters through the Chinese character cards," John said.
He also does woodworking and plans to build some useful pieces. Sarah loves baking and said during this period she has more time to do what she likes.
They also check the children's homework at home, reduce their outdoor activities and teach them various practices to prevent the epidemic. "We are very grateful for China's prevention and control measures during this period. We are very safe and happy every day living in Wenchang," Sarah said.
