Beijing CPPCC holds session ceremony

The opening ceremony of the third session of the 13th Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference kicked off on Jan 10 in Beijing. More than 700 political advisers attended the ceremony. The session is set to conclude on Jan 15, lasting five and a half days.

Ji Lin, chairman of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, delivered a work report from the standing committee covering the past year.

Liu Zhongfan, vice chairman of the CPPCC Beijing Municipal Committee, delivered a report on how proposals from political advisers were handled since the previous session.

Political advisers raised 1,327 proposals over the past year, including topics related to financial reform in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, improvements in child care, the transformation work of scientific achievements and protection of the old city of Beijing, Liu said.

One hundred excellent proposals made last year were given recognition during the ceremony.

In the coming days, political advisers will hear and discuss proposals related to renovations of old communities, traffic management, garbage classification and other issues of public concern, according to the official website of CPPCC Beijing Municipal Committee.

The session will add four special consultative conferences this year, focusing on the optimizing of business environment, poverty alleviation, the 2022 Winter Olympics and the work of political advisers who are not Party members.

Two consultative conferences themed at stabilizing the price of agricultural products in the capital and providing services for young Taiwanese studying and working in Beijing will also be held during the session.
