Senior CPC official stresses efforts in fighting gang crime
BEIJING - A senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Monday urged efforts to secure a complete victory of the combat against gangs and organized crimes.
Guo Shengkun, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks at a meeting in Beijing.
Guo, also head of the leading group of the national crackdown on gangs and organized crime, called for continuous efforts to conduct in-depth investigation and rectification and promote a long-term mechanism on fighting gang-related crimes.
Noting that major achievements have been made in the campaign since it started two years ago, Guo said the year 2020 will be important for the campaign as the coming year will witness the completion of building a moderately prosperous society in all aspects.
Guo called on relevant authorities to conduct thorough rectification in key industries and eradicate hotbeds for gangs.
Guo also stressed efforts to handle cases in strict accordance with the law and ensure that cases are solved in a quality and effective way.
