Xiongan going green with transportation
Green transportation will account for 90 percent of all transport in Xiongan New Area in North China's Hebei province over the next five years, forming a green transportation system in the new area, per a recently released guideline on the area's traffic.
In the future, buses, non-motor vehicles and walking will be the major methods of transit in a newly established transport system which will provide convenient, safe, green and smart transport services according to the guideline, released on Dec 2 and quoted in a report from local news website hebnews.cn.
A high-quality and diversified public transport system will be established by 2025 and advanced intelligent transportation technology will be widely used in Xiongan, it said.
The area will also develop customized and responsive public transport services by integrating different kinds of transport methods and utilizing traffic big data.
Bus companies are encouraged to participate in logistics delivery services, as are automatic driving and unmanned facilities.
Accounts for recording green traffic habits will be established for private entities and organizations, which will be linked to their preferential rights for enjoying public services, as a way to encourage green transport, the guideline said.
