Shenzhen, which is adjacent to Hong Kong, bears heavy tasks and responsibilities in the process, said Chen Xiaoying, commissioner of Shenzhen Customs.
Chen said Shenzhen Customs has formed a "mature and effective" mechanism for working with other departments in the country and for cooperating with customs in other countries to fight illegal activities.
Over the first 10 months of this year, 37,000 tons of solid waste, as well as over 5,000 endangered species and their products, were seized by Shenzhen Customs.
