First ultra-large dredger with in-cabin mud pumps delivered in Jiangsu
The country's first ultra-large dredger with distributed in-cabin mud pumps was officially delivered on Oct 23 in Qidong, Jiangsu province, marking China's independent manufacturing capabilities of dredging equipment throughout the industrial chain.
The vessel measures 180 meters in length and 36 meters in width, with a maximum dredging depth of 120 meters. It reaches leading standards in gauges including performance, environmental standards and technical level.
Formally known as "Xin Hai Jing 1", the ship fills a gap in the design and application of distributed in-hold mud pumps in China's dredging industry. It is designed by the Marine Design & Research Institute of China (MARIC), a unit of China State Shipbuilding Corp, and constructed by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co Ltd (ZPMC).
Gu Yong, deputy general manager and chief engineer of China Communications Construction Co Ltd (CCCC) Shanghai Dredging Co Ltd, said the vessel's most notable achievement is that it is fully domestically developed and manufactured across the entire supply chain.
"As a result of collaboration among more than 110 domestic suppliers, the ship has successfully created a complete industrial chain including design, research and development, system integration, core components, and more. It has effectively filled gaps in China's dredging and land reclamation industry chain," said Gu.
