Man, 54, admits to abusing 12-year-old mentally challenged girl

A 54-year-old man has confessed to sexually assaulting a 12-year-old mentally challenged girl, police in Guangdong said on Thursday.

The man, surnamed Xie, is a native of Xinyi city. He has been accused of repeatedly sexually abusing the girl and making her pregnant twice in eight months.

In a notice released on Saturday, the public security bureau in Xinyi, Guangdong, said it had received a report in March that a girl was sexually abused and became pregnant. 

In late October, family members of the girl told police she was pregnant again, just months after having an abortion for the first pregnancy.

The police said on Thursday that the case has been solved, and further probe is going on.
