Mainland spokesperson congratulates Taiwan filmmakers on Golden Rooster Awards nominations
BEIJING -- A Chinese mainland spokesperson on Wednesday sent congratulations to certain nominated Taiwan filmmakers and films at this year's Golden Rooster Awards.
Ma Xiaoguang, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, made the remarks while responding to a question at a regular press conference.
He called the participation of Taiwan filmmakers and films in the award event and their nominations an embodiment of the preferential policies, which, unveiled by the mainland in 2018 and known as "31 measures," include policies encouraging joint production of films and TV series by mainland and Taiwan filmmakers.
Ma said the mainland remains committed to promoting cooperation between filmmakers from both sides of the Taiwan Straits to achieve common development of film industries across the Straits and improve the film sectors of the Chinese nation.
Launched in 1981, a Year of the Rooster, the Golden Rooster Awards is a national award event sponsored by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the China Film Association.
