President lauds role of standardization
China would like to make joint efforts with all countries to improve the international standardization system and governance structure, President Xi Jinping said on Monday.
Xi made the remark in a congratulatory letter sent to the 83rd general meeting of the International Electrotechnical Commission being held in Shanghai.
Xi said in the letter that green, low-carbon and recyclable development has become a common goal for all of mankind.
As new technologies including artificial intelligence, big data and 5G have been integrated with the development of new energy power generation and electric vehicles, Xi said there is an urgent need to create and apply international standards in relevant fields and enhance international cooperation in standardization.
He said China attaches great importance to standardization work, proactively promotes the application of international standards, pushes forward high-tech innovation, encourages high-level opening-up and pushes for high-quality growth through the application of high standards.
