Bogota picks China for new subway system

A consortium of Chinese enterprises won a bid from Bogota, Colombia to build the city's first subway line, China's CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co Ltd announced on Saturday.
As a part of the consortium, the State-owned train manufacturer CRRC Changchun will be responsible for production of 210 high-level driverless subway vehicles and 20 years' maintenance.
Colombia is Latin America's fourth-largest economy. Bogota, the capital, has a population of about 7.2 million and heavy traffic .
The 23.96-kilometer line will adopt a driverless elevated subway system.
After completion, Bogota will become the second city in Colombia after Medellin to have a subway.
